- Type:
Single
Post Lift
- Description:
- The Braun Vangater
II mounts on the left side of the passenger side doors. The operator
opens the vehicle's doors and activates the toggle switch to
the unfold position. The platform unfolds automatically and stops.
The operator releases and reactivates the same switch which enables
the unfold function until the platform is horizontal. The bridgeplate
will deploy when the platform reaches the horizontal position.
The operator once again releases and reactivates the toggle switch
enabling the down function. The lift will automatically stop
at ground level and deploy the outboard roll stop. After boarding,
the operator activates the toggle switch in the stow direction.
The outboard roll stop raises up and the platform slightly levels.
Then the platform rises, elevating the wheelchair passenger from
the ground up to the floor of the van. The lift stops automatically
at floor level and deploys the bridgeplate. After the user/passenger
has exited the platform, the switch can be activated again to
fold and stow the platform.
The lift is powered by a 12 volt electrical motor. A gear-driven
ball screw assembly drives the lifting mechanism to raise or
lower the platform. It features a powered bridgeplate and outboard
roll stop which act as loading and unloading ramps when deployed.

Under
Vehicle Lift (UVL)
- Description:
- The Braun UVL
wheelchair lift mounts on the outside underneath the passenger
side doors. The operator opens the vehicle's doors and activates
the hand held pendant to electrically extend the lift out. The
lift is then hydraulically raised to the interior floor height.
To lower the lift, activate the hand held pendant which then
lowers the platform by gravity. Once the platform is at ground
level the front barrier flap lowers.
Safety features ensure that the lift will not stow under the
vehicle as long as a passenger is on the platform.
- User Requirements:
- The UVL can be
operated either by the wheelchair user if capable or by the aid
of an attendant.
- Vehicle Requirements:
- The UVL will only
work on the Ford, Chevrolet/GMC or Dodge Standard and extended
size vans. 1/2 tons can be used but require suspension and exhaust
modifications for proper height of the lift. 3/4 or 1 tone usually
do not need these modification. The UVL will work with standard
floors or lowered floors and slider or hinged doors.
- Advantages:
- Full use of interior
space with no door blockage. The lift is hidden from view, fully
enclosed and protected from outside elements. The front passenger
seat can be fully reclined. Midship captain chair in some cases
can be used. The UVL is quiet while being operated.
